Not much for blue sky even through the -20°c stretch. Hopefully February will clear for the Milky Way to rise sideways adjacent to the mountain tops and church steeples.
Spring, just before it leaves winter, is aways away yet.

3 bald eagles together (I’m assuming the black-headed one must be one as well?) – wow! Do they usually hang round together like that?

Hi Carol, the smaller black bird is a Raven. They are one of the smartest birds. They will follow Eagles around knowing they will get some leftovers.

I’m surprised it’s sat so near though – especially with the size difference!

Yes it seems unusual, but they are often seen doing so. I also keep my eye out for Ravens and Crows when I’m hiking in the mountains because they follow bears around, again getting some leftovers or even eating the undigested seeds from the bear’s scat.

That’s a damned good tip for hikers in your area. Can tell you’re a proper ‘backwoodsman’!
