Winding Down

Finally a good layer of ice on the lake. Providing there is no snow tonight, Cooper and I will be heading down for a skate. We will have a few pucks to toss back and forth. We might even take the net. You learn fast if you miss it you have to skate a long ways to retrieve the puck.

It’s good to feel the cooler temps.

I’m the opposite – I’m dreading our week ahead as it’s going to be -8 and stay there – I’m sure that’s mild for over there but I really don’t cope well with it. I am hoping for snow though as I want to go sledging again this year… Have a great New Year and hope you got your skate!

Happy New Year! I know the feeling of appreciating cold. We managed to get up to Vermont for New Year’s and a bit of skiing. It’s been around 15 deg F (-9 C) and as cold as -8 F (-21 C). SO much nicer to have dry snow and hard ice – at home we deal with 33 deg rain all winter. Hope your 2026 is a great one.

Hello, Happy New Year! I sure have enjoyed reading your website. Looking forward to following along on your adventures in 2026. We have had a very mild winter so far. A fair amount of snow, but mild! All the best.
