Lazy days

Morning skiff.

Clear skies tonight and I might give Comet Lemmon another shot. It has moved away from the tail of The Big Dipper and closer to the sun. I searched this morning but couldn’t see it. The evening may be provide a better opportunity.

Only the belt of Orion (top center) and Sirius (far left) visible this morning.

It’s getting chilly, the long underwear and long sleeve undershirts are on for the season.

Here are a few photos from the last few days.

Gazing across the valley at a far off range. Taken from a high perch.
Mount Baldy, the top obscured in morning cloud. This used to be valuable habitat for elk and grizzlies.

Love the photo of the far-off range poking through the cloud. But they all look ‘BRRR’ to me! We only get a bit of snow for a short period here (unlike Scotland) – but then our mountains are much lower I think.

We had a couple of clear nights this week so I looked for Comet Lemmon but thought it had probably moved from the region of The Plough now. I didn’t see anything but was outside in my bare feet and not much else so I didn’t look for long!

The range that you see in the photo is a long ways away. I was standing at about 5000 ft looking out between two mountains across the river valley, over the front range into a higher range. It just happened to be framed in the clouds.

Time is running out to see the comet. No luck here as it’s been the drizzling shits.

I’m pretty sure I won’t see this comet – it’s either raining here or would be too low in the sky now I think. The Plough is really low when I look out and it was below that – not sure where it’s supposed to be now.
