Late July

Each day has had a little rain. Plenty of blue sky between. Cool at nights. Almost a perfect summer compared to what we have had the past few years.

The berries are raging on into August. Lisa and I could get used to this time off wondering the mountains with the grandkids. Picking our fill to take home. They are proud and, of course, turned it into a competition with Scarlett and me picking against Copper and Grandma. Luckily it is evenly matched.

It is good to be up there sharing the sky and tree tops, watching for wild flowers and hummingbirds, pointing out the big berries, showing them how to plink, plink at tins, wishing time could stand still or at least slow down.

Thank you Carol! The kids love the bush and are getting good and seem to enjoy foraging. Willow enjoys her berries,. I have to be careful she doesn’t go in front of me.

We were brought up with rifles for hunting. I have never fired a hand gun. Times sure were different. We used to have gun racks in our vehicles back then.

Hi Julie, it was a great day! Every dog I’ve known like huckleberries. It’s very strange. Today Scarlett picked spuds, peas, beans, garlic and carrots out of the garden and set up a fresh veggie stand. She made a few bucks. Then some of her friends showed up and they were all loitering around like a little girl gang. I think they were too intimidating for her customers so business slowed down. 😀
