Nice brisk morning at -6°c. Willow and I went out at about 5:30. It was just starting to lighten around the mountains in the east. The waning moon was bright to the southeast. I pointed the camera in the direction of where Comet Lemmon should be located as I wasn’t able to spot it with my naked eye. Later when I was home I was able to easily locate it on the downloaded photos. Now that I know where to look it will be easy to spot next time out. And it should get brighter!

It is easy to pick out the shape of the Big Dipper on the left.

I wanted to include the Big Dipper so I could show people where to look if they are interested. Of course Lemmon will move in relation to the stars. For now it’s still a good place to point the camera or binoculars.

Still stuck in the murk here and can’t see a damned thing! It’s getting depressing now. Great to see your photos though – the first one is a beauty!

Thanks Carol! I was happy to track it down. Yes the clouds can get you down. Our winters can have low cloud for months. Depressing.

Hi Julie! Got lucky with that shot. It was chilly. No luck spotting the comet since then.
