Noticed a big waning gibbous moon a couple mornings ago. It stayed well into light, hanging around till damn near noon. I used to be up on these things. Moons, birds, when the orchids would bloom to the day. Now it is lucky to get out.

It could be age taking the energy, or the job. Can’t work like I used to. It takes a bit to recuperate. No sense bitching. It’s not my invention. There is only bone on my shoulders these days and it ain’t coming back.
Good sense cackling in fury and ranker, or high in spirit like the Redwings in the marshes dashing between the cattails, leading hither and yon, it is hard to tell, regardless there it goes, fluttering jumping in the breeze getting smaller between clouds of mosquitos, still a marvel, one day gone for good.

Nope “…it ain’t coming back.” I’ve tried.

I hear you! The rate at which it is leaving me is accelerating. Isn’t that Newton’s second law of motion? With the greater force causing this acceleration; f**king old age.

I completely know what you mean with your second paragraph. I only worked until I was 66 but my last year was as a shelf-stacker in a supermarket overnight – it damn near killed me with the effort. I only worked 2 nights a week but was ill all week until my nightshifts, felt a bit better going in to start those and, right after them, went back to being sick again. It wasn’t the fact that I was working nightshift by the way as I’ve pretty much always done that as I’m that way round. Two weeks after I retired, my health was back to normal. I think it’s not possible to just keep going on at work.

I am starting to feel it, that’s for sure. We have had quite a turnover of young people this year leaving us always shorthanded. Since Covid it has been very difficult to get staff. In Canada younger people have high unemployment rates. I think they are all waiting for the job of their dreams. Lisa and I plan on working, mostly out of necessity, until we are 72 but the way I’ve been feeling lately, I don’t think I.
‘m going to make it.

I’ve got to say that, after a certain point, your body starts letting you know it’s had enough and then I think that, after that, it will be bad for you. I know a lot of people don’t have a choice though 😦
You’re right about the youngsters only wanting ‘the job of their dreams’ – they don’t understand that you have to do ANY job in order to get to a state where someone will employ you in the job of your dreams!

Thanks Julie! Good to hear you still enjoy your garden. I had to weed ours the other day and was walking crooked for awhile. Take care during your cool season,
